A saltwater spinning reel with a one-piece aluminum body and oversized gears, sold in sizes from inshore trout reels to offshore tuna reels. Anglers pick it for a stiff, strong reel that costs far less than flagship saltwater models.
Specs
- Sizes: 2500 (inshore) up to 20000 (offshore), per maker

- Gearing: Digigear; maker says gears are 20 to 40 percent larger than most rivals
- Drag: ATD (Automatic Tournament Drag), carbon
- Example (5000D-H, retailer listing): 5.7:1 gear ratio, 15.3 oz
- Price on maker site: from $249.99 MSRP (Oct 2026)
What reviewers say
Hooked Up Magazine fished the 5000 for snapper and called it rigid, tough and smooth, and good value. Cast & Spear sees it as a strong pick for surf, offshore charters and kayak use. Retailers and reviewers point to the one-piece body as the reason it stays aligned under heavy drag. Owner ratings at big-box stores are positive, but counts are small, and we found no long-term lab test.
Good
- Very rigid metal body
- Big gears for long life
- Sizes for inshore through offshore
- Good price for a sealed-style saltwater reel
Not so good
- Maker's site doesn't post a full spec table
- Overkill for small freshwater fish
Who it's for
Inshore, surf, pier and nearshore anglers chasing redfish, snook, stripers or bigger fish. Skip it if you fish mostly light lines in fresh water.
