What reviewers say

Osprey updated the Talon around late 2024, moving the reservoir sleeve inside and making it wider. OutdoorGearLab ranked it first among the daypacks it tested for comfort, fit and ventilation. Not everyone agrees: one independent reviewer found the 2025 version too heavy for a daypack and felt a full frame was overkill for day loads, and some REI owners say the new back panel breathes less and the usable space feels smaller than before. Cyclists note the top can bump a helmet. Owners who liked it praise the bigger zippered hipbelt pockets.

Good

  • Stable, comfortable carry on long days
  • Adjustable torso length
  • Roomy hipbelt pockets

Not so good

  • Heavy for a daypack
  • Mixed reports on back ventilation
  • Less suited to biking than older versions

Who it's for

Hikers doing long or rough day hikes who want hip support. Light-load walkers and bike commuters may prefer a simpler pack.
