What reviewers say
REI buyers rate it 4.7 of 5, and REI's own staff guide calls it close to indestructible for normal use. Owners like that it fits overhead bins and is sized well for a long weekend up to about four days. The common complaints are about carry: there is no single shoulder strap, and when worn as a backpack it can sag and ride low. Older versions had different dimensions, so check the current size if you're replacing one.
Good
- Tough, weather-resistant fabric
- Backpack straps for hands-free carry
- Packs away small when empty
Not so good
- No single shoulder strap
- Rides low as a backpack when full
- Pricier than basic duffels
Who it's for
Campers and travelers who want one bag that can take a beating from truck beds and airports. If you want wheels or a messenger strap, look elsewhere.
