What reviewers say
Most anglers treat PowerPro as a dependable, fairly priced braid. In side-by-side angler comparisons, it is a four-strand line, and testers find it a little louder and less smooth through the guides than eight-strand braids like Sufix 832, with more wind knots. Others like it for its toughness and low price. FishUSA's description points to jigging, pitching and trolling as good fits because of the low stretch.
Good
- Near-zero stretch for feeling light bites
- Thin for its strength
- Good value, especially on large spools
- Widely sold
Not so good
- Rougher and noisier than eight-strand braids
- Can wind-knot on light spinning gear
Who it's for
Anglers who jig, pitch, flip or troll and want a tough braid at a fair price. Skip it if casting distance with light lures matters most; an eight-strand braid will cast smoother.
